Waste water treatment plant

  • All surface water from the Enns Raw Materials Park is treated in a central wastewater treatment plant on site.
purified and made available again as service water.
  • In addition to a biological purification stage, sand and activated carbon filters are also used

The advantages

  • 7 modern waste treatment plants
  • 20 ha dedicated industrial and business construction area
  • 1.9 million t/a Maximum capacity of all plants
  • 180 jobs
  • Trimodal transport connection via road, rail and ship
  • 12 MW electricity demand of all plants. 9.2 MVA of energy are generated from waste itself.

In each of the seven different plants, the focus of recycling is on different types of waste. What they all have in common, however, is that they are mixtures and residues of waste from private individuals, companies and the public sector, which are treated in multi-stage processes.

In addition to mineral waste (demolition materials, excavated material, contaminated material, etc.) from the construction industry, shredder residues, plastic waste and various residues from other waste treatment plants are also accepted. Waste that can no longer be recycled is incinerated or prepared for proper landfilling.

We do not use ready-made products and solutions! We use what exists and develop our own innovative technologies and processes from it. We tap hitherto completely unused resources for raw materials that we do not have available in Austria (e.g. gold or copper). We generate electricity and heat. All this from "waste from waste". This is living value creation with innovative strength, courage and vision, here with us in Europe.

The location of the raw materials park in the Upper Austrian central region is ideal. By combining existing and new plants on one industrial site, great synergy effects are utilised at the site as well as with the surrounding industrial and settlement area.

The plant is optimally equipped with a 110KV high-voltage grid, a natural gas supply and a water supply and disposal system and is built to be flood-proof.

The goal of Rohstoffpark Enns is to treat waste in an environmentally sound manner and thereby
    • maximise the proportion of recyclables recovered,
    • Generating energy from non-recyclable waste and
    • minimise the amount of residues to be disposed of.
Recovered recyclables are used in commercial facilities on site (asphalt mixing plant, concrete mixing plant) or in the manufacturing industry (e.g. copper smelter, plastics production, cement plant, etc.).
  • Our goal is to extract high-quality (secondary) raw materials from the last remnants of waste or from contaminated materials. We achieve this through modern, multi-stage processing technologies. Only if high, consistent quality is guaranteed can waste replace primary raw materials in industry and commerce. We also take responsibility for the disposal of the (often polluted) residues and ensure this at the site or in our landfills.

The location in the Ennshafen industrial area offers the possibility of transporting materials by truck, ship or rail. The plant is located on the short route to the Enns federal road bypass and within a few minutes of the junctions to the A1 Westautobahn. Ships coming from the Danube can be loaded and unloaded at the Ennshafen. Transport by rail can be handled via a branch line to the plant. A rail transport system developed by Bernegger replaces 50 trucks per train. The site is thus ideally equipped for transports with low greenhouse gas emissions.

All surface and process water produced at the site is treated biologically and mechanically in the site's own process water treatment plant. This allows the use of fresh groundwater to be reduced as much as possible.

Bernegger GmbH is a family business - founded in 1947 - with locations throughout Austria. Top-motivated employees, our own raw material extraction and a powerful machine park distinguish us as a reliable partner. Adherence to deadlines and uncomplicated realisation of our projects are important to us and we set standards in the areas of construction, raw materials and the environment. We have high standards for ourselves and want to create new jobs as well as leave behind an environment worth living in, which is why we have been investing in resource-saving concepts for decades.

Near-natural plans for recultivating our extraction sites, gentle mining methods and low-emission logistics systems are a priority for us. Innovative processing and recycling systems enable us to keep raw materials in the cycle for as long as possible. The practicality of our concepts proves itself anew every day. Sustainability must not only be discussed, but also lived. We move sustainably.
